ravaged melon patch
We think raccons did this to our melon patch. They left only a few small unripe melons. I am sure they will be back to get those in time, too. As for now they are busy devouring our corn.

Snakes or Shots (Which is worse)

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Have you ever heard the phrase”If it was a snake, it would have bit you”  Well today it was a snake and thank goodness it didn’t bite.  I knelt down by one of my plants and felt something kind of squishy. I looked down and it was a SNAKE!  I jumped back and screamed like a girl.  I let the snake go on its way. It’s nice to have it in the garden, just not under my knee.

Today we went to get our shots.  I was expecting two, hepatitis A and B (combined) and a tetanus.  Well, we get there and the doc says, “You should get a pneumonia shot, too and by the way, we don’t have the hepitaitus A and B combined. You have to have two separate shots.” So now my two shots just multiplied by two and I am getting four.  The only justice is that Dad thought he had all his hepatitis shots and only had to get a tetanus. He had to get a tetanus and an hepatitis A shot, too.  Then they make us wait forever. So I am sweating the fact I have to get four instead of two and not happy at all. The longer I wait the more nervous I get.  Then I hear them talking out in the hall. ”The pneumonia shot is expired.”  So anyway, I end up getting only three shots. But guess what, they have this cool stuff that they squirt on your arm and it numbs it a little bit, so the shot doesn’t hurt so much. Worked great.  I can hardly wait for my next shots, (in a month) ….J/K on that.  Dad says if we go golfing, our arms won’t get sore from the tetanus shots.  Fore……….

Mutton Bustin’ II

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Here’s a quick video of Hunter riding his mutton last week.  Kind of waited to see if his dad was going to put it on, but hasn’t so I will.   Joseph rode too, but didn’t stay on long enough to get the video.

She’s here! Maya Ann was born on the fourth of July although she doesn’t have an uncle named Sam. She is beautiful. I am sure her parents will post more about her, but here is a quick picture we took when she was only about 5 hours old. We are so happy to have her here and that mother and daughter are doing great.
